About the Item

A very lovely and functional bird cage in raw teak wood. The elaborate design includes a main center cupola supported by carved columns that is surrounded by four smaller cupolas, all topped with turned steeples. Each of the four sides offers access through an arched door that locks, and is flanked by columns with carved capitals that support a pediment top. A zinc-lined drawer pulls out easily from the bottom of the cage for cleaning. Main cupola can be taken off, offering another easy access point. Bird cage rests on the original teak base which consists of a square table with arched aprons & turned legs, all decorated with carved flower & foliage motifs. Probably Indonesian, circa 1980's. Note: the cage appears never to have been used for birds. Measures: 27 1/4" wide x 27 1/4" long x 75" high (Table is 27 1/2" high without the birdcage) Condition and Wear as defined by 1stdibs Excellent - Like new or has never been used. Absolutely no scratches or wear. Has no structural issues and is in perfect condition. Good - Very light scratches of minor wear to some areas of the piece. Most antique and vintage items fit this condition. No structural issues. Fair - Shows light scratches and wear overall from use, but remains in fair condition. May have some structural issues including minor instability. Distressed - Worn, scratched and roughed up, even if intentional. Could have gouges, cracks and fissures. Other issues could include significant losses, fading or structural instability.
