About the Item
A rare and sculptural pair of early 20th-century bookends from the celebrated French ceramics studio Grès de Rambervilliers, featuring stylized seal figures in an iridescent, high-gloss glaze. The glaze shimmers with tones of deep green, gold, violet, and blue, depending on the light and angle – a hallmark of the refined Rambervilliers technique.
These bookends perfectly embody the Art Deco spirit, combining animalier elegance with architectural form. Each piece is clearly marked on the underside with the impressed stamp Grès de Rambervilliers.
The pair is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. A distinctive and functional decorative object for collectors of French Art Deco or ceramic animalier works.
