Vintage Italian Alabaster Bookends Mid-20th Century

About the Item

A pair of vintage Italian alabaster bookends, mid-20th century. In rare colorful layers of stone, these unique bookends will add bold style and sophistication to any interior. Hand-carved with extraordinary care in Italy - possibly Volterra, where much alabaster and marble production was happening in the 1960s and 70s by brands such as ABF, VG, and Romano Bianchi. These brands often experimented with unusual and brilliant colors - a departure from the tonal naturalism of previous eras. This pair is certainly no exception; their colors are brilliant.
