Early 20th Century French Black Leather Traveling Trunk with Brass Detailing
About the Item
This French wooden steam trunk from the early twentieth century is covered in black leather and features wooden runners and brass corners that offered protection from damage when traveling. Its original leather handles are still intact. A leather holder on the top was used to insert an address tag and is surrounded by brass studs. The locks are stamped and a brass plaque on the side is marked Articles de Voyage, Les Fils Bon, 6 Rue Emile Zola, Lyon, the named and town of the maker. The interior is lined in fabric and has a document pouch on the inside of the lid. An ideal piece to be used as a small coffee table, circa 1920.
