Vintage Flat Top Steamer Trunk, 20th Century
About the Item
This striking vintage steamer trunk combines timeless functionality with classic design. Likely dating from the mid-20th century, the piece features a robust wooden structure covered in a black coated canvas or leatherette, providing both durability and a refined aesthetic. The surface is finished with a textured, slightly glossy look reminiscent of faux leather, giving it a luxurious touch while remaining highly practical.
The edges are reinforced with honey-colored wooden slats and adorned with riveted brass-tone metal fittings, including corner brackets and protective studs that not only enhance its structural integrity but also add to its vintage charm. The hardware—latches, central lock, and side handles—is all original and made of aged nickel-plated steel, showing attractive patina and signs of wear consistent with age. The central lock includes a keyhole, though the key is not present.
Inside, the trunk is lined with a light teal or slate-blue synthetic leather (skiver-type), offering a clean and elegant contrast to the dark exterior. The interior is spacious and in excellent vintage condition, with minimal signs of use.
