Late Victorian Japanned Copper Oxide Coat And Hat Rack Stand

About the Item

Remarkable example of Late Victorian furniture, this coat rack features a beautiful copper oxide Japan finish, the result being flashed copper juxtaposed with black Japanning. The filigree scrolling in the frame's casting almost inspires an art nouveau design appearance. The top of the stand displays four independent hooks, each of which has three of their own hooks. This functional piece of furniture is perfect for a foyer or entryway of a home, and the curved collet on the main shaft holds umbrellas or walking sticks in place. This copper oxide coat rack is a rare piece, and is sure to elevate any room. There is a previous contemporary brazing repair evident in one of the hooks, and the surface of the rack has cosmetic oxidation. Overall, this piece is in great condition!
