About the Item

An eye-catching, sculptural valet stand designed by Marc Sadler, manufactured by Boffi in Italy, circa 1990. This model is named "Gaston" and is a limited edition. This piece is numbered 550 and with the designer's autograph carved in the metal. The use of materials creates a stunning, luxurious and slightly medieval style. Chrome plated metal, brass, wood and red velvet are combined to create the shape of a man within industrial interpretation. It reveals several unique storage solutions. The tiny wooden drawer unit on top is perfectly suitable for accessories and jewelry. The unique mechanism allows the chrome plated chest to open and provides a versatile use. It has racks for coates, umbrellas and anything you could possible want to keep next to the front door or in the bedroom. This eye-catching, knight like piece will definitely be the center of attention in any decor! It remains in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. About the designer: Marc Sadler has been awarded four times with the Compasso d’Oro ADI (Industrial Design association) for the lamps Drop (Flos, 1994), Tite and Mite (Foscarini, 2001), the bookshelf Big (Caimi Brevetti, 2008) and the gelato display case Bellevue with Panorama technology (IFI, 2014), his work has won many international design awards over the years. His motorcyclist’s back protector designed for Dainese is now housed in the permanent collection of design at the MOMA in New York and the lamp Mite (Foscarini) is part of the design collection of the Beaubourg in Paris.

An outstanding set of two sputnik chandeliers designed by Paolo Venini, manufactured by VeArt in Italy, circa 1960.
