About the Item
The Penis Coat Rack was made and designed by Greg Palombo. It's origin stems from the erotic works of Ken Price and Ettore Sottsass. This piece expresses something beyond just a functionalist coat rack. This postmodern inspired oddity taps into an eroticism through the cartoon stylized penises that form to posts and hangers of the coat rack. Their form derives from Ettore Sottsass' Shiva Vase from 1973.
Erotic works often possess a universal language that almost all humans can understand in one way or another. When viewing this coat rack, its phallic form is so obvious and so human, that it crosses cultures and gets down to a very primal essence. We all have come from a penis, about fifty percent of us have one, and if you don’t have one, you might find yourself thinking about them in a sexual or romantic way. It is undeniably ubiquitous and makes for a comical and perplexing coat rack.
The Penis Coat Rack is made from MDF and finished with automotive paint and buffed to a polished finish looking like polished steel.
All Greg Palombo pieces come with a life time warranty that covers any defect in craftsmanship or materials.
