Early 20th century Pair of Aluminium Hat or Wig Holder, 1920s
About the Item
Rare! Pair of aluminum hat or wig holder dating from the 1920s in good condition.
Stamped "Breveté SGDG." This acronym, used in France from 1844 until 1968, indicates that a patent was filed, but without its proper functioning being guaranteed by the government.
It can be found on many objects, generally with innovative features for the time (table systems, alarm clocks, weapons, oil lamps, electrical systems and lighting, objects from the Paris Fair, etc.). Small metal studs are visible under the base; they were probably used to snap onto a stand.
These two hat stands are very elegant and resemble typical bathers from the Art Nouveau period. Rare pieces! We have never seen one in 45 years of experience.
