Early 20th Century Pair of Signed RINCK Luggage Stands

About the Item

Fabulous and very rare pair of signed RINCK Paris luggage stands made from fruitwood, circa 1920-1940. They are of a simple and elegant design, with brass rails to keep the wood surfaces in clean condition. The Rinck family were cabinetmakers, and began their company in 1841 in Alsace, in the northeast of France. They had to leave Alsace in 1871 when Prussia invaded that part of France in the Franco-Prussian War and then settled in Paris in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, near the Bastille, which was a traditional area of decorative art in France in the 18th century.
