Iconic Handcrafted Rosewood Danish Modern Magazine Rack! Mid Century Decor 1950s
About the Item
This Spectacular Rosewood Danish Modern Magazine Rack is a Rockstar in Mid Century Collector Circles!
Sought after by professional decorators for decades, these folding magazine racks add just the right light and airy "look" to a mid century restoration! When placed next to an Eames Plywood Lounge chair or a "Papa Bear" Chair, the effect is magical and creates a time warp to the fabulous fifties!
This magazine rack is in fine vintage condition! The wood is well preserved and lustrous. This designer furnishing trophy has been well preserved in the Southwest Desert in Scottsdale and seen light duty, leaving it a decorator's dream!
This example still has a "Made in Yugoslavia" tag underneath the spine. During the fifties, production of these popular Danish magazine racks occurred in Romania, Yugoslavia and other parts of Europe and were made in various types of wood.
Imagine it! A fab treasure from a period when labor savings meant handcrafted manufacturing in Southern Europe!
This is probably the most recognized mid century Danish Modern magazine rack ever manufactured and in the coveted Rosewood. Over the past ten years these have become very difficult to obtain in this combination of wood and condition.
A MUST HAVE addition to the favorite reading spot of your NY penthouse, West Palm Beach estate or Palm Springs atomic ranch home!

By Dunbar Furniture, Edward Wormley
Located in Peoria, AZ
This Spectacular stacked Magazine Rack is a Rockstar in Mid Century Collector Circles! Super rare and incredibly useful, these are sought after by professional decorators and knowledgeable mcm aficionados!
This magazine rack is in fine vintage condition! The wood is well preserved and lustrous. Age appropriate wear for this type of item. Small dings and abrasions to the wood. This designer furnishing trophy has been well preserved in the Southwest Desert in Scottsdale.
This design is after Edward Wormley's stacked magazine rack from 1947 for Dunbar. Some collectors like this one better because the open racks are much visually lighter and better suited to personal interiors.

WOW! THIS IS IT! The famous wildly modern Rembrandt lamp featured in the 1960 Twilight Zone episode "Third From The Sun". In this the 14th episode of Rod Serling's Sci-Fi masterpiece two scientists plan to escape their doomed world which is about to have a nuclear war.
This modernist Rembrandt lamp was used in the lead character's home, right next to some modern art, to help present an otherworldly & futuristic decor. The viewers don't know that this world is not Earth until the end of the show, but the futuristic decor, unusual camera angles and unusual vehicle sounds were subtle hints!
A timeless part of television history and a coup for Rembrandt lamp designers to be chosen to depict the most advanced lamp design!
This lamp was expensive new and production was never as high as their lesser quality competition. The result is that now these lamps are becoming impossible finds. The few owners privileged enough to own one never let them go. They are far too cool!
Now that brash mid century optimism and outrageousness makes them even more wonderful than when they were new!
This one is in very fine vintage condition with all the expected patina and minor blemishes time takes on metal, glass, wood and enamel. The fabric lamp shade with its gold foil textured lining is lost technology that would be impossible to reproduce today at any price and is also in very fine vintage condition. This showpiece lamp features a giant "Mogul" socket which was used in most floor lamps and large table lamps prior to 1955, One will be provided with the lamp, and they are still available.
It truly is a modern miracle to find this tall 39" monumental lamp! Displays beautifully! If you've ever wanted to have otherworldly decor in your interiors - this is your opportunity! If you haven't seen the episode, it is a must watch...
