Early 17th Century Velvet Applique Panel Bespoke Hand Made Pillow

About the Item

A bespoke hand made pillow The Crimson silk velvet ground appliqued with a design of flowers and foliage within gold thread borders. Spanish or Italian circa 1600 Finished with rare early 18th century metallic tassel fringe Backed with antique Mohair velvet Antique , Superb time worn , distressed faded grandeur appeal . This evocative ancient panel is approx 450 years old and of course shows signs of wear commensurate with this immense age Enchanting tiny historic stitched darns throughout Please study photographs and use the zoom feature on your touch screen as they do form a very important part of the description SIZE 20 inches x 20 inches (51cm x 51cm) S5374 FOOTNOTE All my pillows are hand made by myself incorporating wherever possible rare early textiles I travel extensively throughout Europe to locate beautiful hard to find textiles , some of which can be up to 400 years old and of course will show evidence of this immense age Rarely totally symmetrical , with perfectly straight lines, without wear ,evenness in colour etc I work as best I can to retain all of this inherent quirkiness to obtain a gently time worn faded grandeur appeal that only be achieved over centuries of use
