Maharam pillow Blumen by Dagobert Peche 003 Robin Blumen by Dagobert Peche is an example of Peche’s textile design aesthetic. The modern geometric elements juxtaposed against a traditional botanical design are archetypical of Peche’s work and exhibit his love of ornament and decorative extravagance. Blumen creates a contemporary, fanciful twist on the familiar and comfortable. Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the 20th and 21st centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten & Baijings, and Studio Job. Dagobert Peche (1887-1923, Austria) was an influential figure in the Austrian arts and crafts movement in the early 20th century. Peche began his education as a mechanical engineer but completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts (Vienna) with a degree in architecture. In 1915, he joined the Wiener Werkstätte, the artists' collective that embraced simplicity, local materials, and craft traditions in reaction against useless ornamentation and industrial mass production, along with Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser. His work within the collective included interior and exhibition design, furniture and textile design, ceramics, and glass and jewelry work, all of which demonstrated Peche's unique decorative language that combined geometric patterning with traditional design. 53% cotton, 47% rayon.
