19Thc Indigo Blue Postage Stamp Chain Quilt

This 19Thc postage stamp Irish chain crib quilt is in fine condition and mounted on stretcher frame.It was found in Pennsylvania and is in red chain on a buttery yellow ground.

After several years of using indigo canvas to upholster our sofas and chairs from the Inheritance collection, we have accumulated a great deal of scrap material. Most are just pieces too small to use for upholstery, or the leftover cuttings from the sewing room floor. We designed and made these quilts with those pieces. The backside of the quilt is a very soft brushed canvas. Each piece is unique with varying shades of Indigo canvas and quantities are very limited. Inspired by decorative stone and iron work, the Ixelles cushion takes its name from an area of Brussels renowned for its Art Deco architecture. Handwoven on a dobby loom in our studio using soft merino lambswool and a traditional extra weft weaving technique, each cushion is meticulously made by hand.
