About the Item

Antique French Neogothic Caquetoire ~ Cathedral Chair ~ Armchair is an intriguing design, originally intended for visiting dignitaries allowing a VIP his or her own special seat. Crafted exclusively from solid oak, this example was carved with timeless Gothic inspired designs including linenfold panels on the sides, spire forms on the armrest supports, castellations across the seat back, and geometric designs framing canted shields with fleurs de lis above and below! Designed to be used with a cushion, the seat is hinged to open trunk-like for a modicum of storage. The inside and back side display the quality of the construction making this piece very capable of enjoyment for centuries to come! Circa early to mid-1900s Measures 47.5H x 27.5W x 19D; seat 19H.
