Bench in Solid Oak and Wengé by Dutch Wood Artist ‘1337 Furniture’
This wonderful piece was handcrafted by Dutch wood artist Bouke Meeuwis, also known as ‘1337 Furniture’.
Timeless, yet with a friendly nod to the past. Hints of Constructivism, Memphis and De Stijl can be seen in the clear and honest design. The solid wood breaths great quality, while the different hand made elements show craftsmanship.
Three solid wooden seats are placed on a bridge-like construction. The floating surfaces emphasise its architectural appearance, giving it a strong and determined look. The dark solid Wengé beautifully creates a strong contrast with the warm honey like color of the solid oak.
The bench shows striking proportions, with a well balanced, open look due to the separation between the seats and frame. This piece has a distinctive and unique character, interesting from every point of view.
Well crafted joinery is shown on the head of the bench, which gives it a sincere character. The firm feet make it ground well, a strong no nonsense base ensuring stability of the bench.
This piece will look great in a modern or contemporary hotel lobby, entrance hall, museum or waiting room. Made to order, in a limited edition of only 20 pieces, signed and numbered.
1337 Furniture was founded by Dutch artist Bouke Meeuwis. His work shows great eye for detail, his designs are distinctive and his hand made pieces show truly skilled craftsmanship. He only makes one-offs and limited editions, making his work unique and appealing.
