About the Item

Gorgeous and sophisticated French wooden bench or stool in Provençal style. The front and sides feature elegant carved ornamentation of veneered and vegetal shapes, running along its entire profile. Short cabriole legs. The beauty of the wood stands out, as it exudes warmth and elegance. A pink gingham upholstered cushion is included. The Provençal style, as its name suggests, originated in France, in the Provence region, in the 18th century. It is governed by the Louis XV style, resulting in art marked by a rustic and romantic appearance, as it is the adaptation of this aesthetic to the country houses of the French aristocracy. These second homes sought to serve as a sort of escape and respite from the hectic lives of these great aristocrats, so they opted for a comforting decor inspired by the nature that surrounds their homes. The plant motifs seek to emulate the beauty and tranquility evoked by the region's landscapes. To achieve this aesthetic, natural materials are used uncovered, rather than covered with polychrome. In short, an elegant bench to make any room feel much more inviting. Perfect for the foot of a bed or in a living room. A bottom bench could be added to serve as a chest, offering plenty of storage capacity. Sold with a red gingham seat. One of a kind French auxiliary furniture, Louis XV style, Napoleon III period in precious woods and with marquetry, originating in an important Parisian workshop in the mid-19th century. This rare piece of furniture is adorned with light wood marquetry that adds contrast and refinement to the whole. The top is made of Griotte inlaid marble. Rouge Griotte, also known as Rouge Du Roi, is a marble of Belgian origin, characterized by its intense red color.
