An Italian Pair of 8 Foot Long Painted Wood Benches w/Backs, 19th Century

About the Item

An Italian pair of painted wood benches from the 19th century. This antique pair of benches from Italy, each approximately 8 feet in length, have recessed panel backs with straight top rails, and have a hand-painted rinceaux motif adorning the panels at center. The long, rectangular bench seat is raised upon three legs comprised of wood boards with flattened backsides and shapely fronts with cut outs along the bottom. Each far outer leg is painted to compliment the motif of the back panels above, with volute accents further embellishing them below the seat. The artisan hand-painted finish (brown and soft green color palette), has nicely worn areas and aging, but likely is not old. These 19th century Italian painted wood benches would be great in a sun-room or perhaps flanking a hallway or mudroom, with plenty of open space beneath for kicking off shoes and boots!
