Late 19th Century French Louis XVI Style Gilt Wood Bench, Caned Seat

About the Item

This late nineteenth century French Louis XVI style gilt wood bench features hand carved detailing of beading, crossed ribbons, and rais-de-coeur around its caned seat. Rosettes adorn the die joints with laurels along the apron. The seat rests on six tapered legs in the shape of quivers of arrows and a curved stretcher joins all of the legs with a central finial. This elegant piece is sure to make a statement as a vanity bench or in a bathroom. c. 1880.
