Magnificent Swedish Gustavian settle bench Sweden Circa 1890 Super fabulous 19th century Swedish ‘Gustavian’ pine bench settle dating to circa 1890, originating from the North of Sweden, this beautiful settle features a high back with carved detail, the seat with a lift up lid and pull out storage drawer, raised on six splayed legs, finished in a distressed crackled finish teal paint, this is certainly a ‘stand out piece’ comes with a full length blue seat cushion, perfect for hallway, living room, bedroom or boot room, a simply stunning piece of furniture that will enhance any space, reserve now. Gustavian furniture refers to a style of furniture and interior decor which started in Sweden around 1770 by King Gustav III. Gustav visited the Palace of Versailles and admired the decor and French neoclacissism. King Gustav was a patron of arts and he held a keen interest in all things related to design and decoration. The French influence was largely due to the Versailles visits, which made a significant impression on the Gustav, the impressive artwork inspired the King to actually create a Paris of the North in the late 18th century.
