This elegant pair of Italian Art Deco-style benches features a solid rectangular frame with a comfortable upholstered cushion attached. At each end of the structure, the benches are equipped with sturdy, functional legs made of ebonized wood, firmly secured in place. These benches were crafted between 1950 and 1955 in the Art Deco style by an artisan workshop in Cantù. This town, located in the province of Como in Lombardy, is renowned for its tradition in luxury furniture production. Cantù is considered an important center for furniture craftsmanship, with a well-established reputation for creating high-quality, designer pieces. Luxury furniture from Cantù is distinguished by its excellent craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and the use of premium materials. The town also attracts internationally acclaimed designers and architects, who collaborate with local artisans to create unique, custom-made items. In designing these benches, the artisans sought to create two compact pieces with bold, simple lines, endowing them with a timeless elegance. The design balances austerity and rigor, while the extreme linearity gives the benches a dynamic and elegant character. The benches were recently entrusted to an experienced master craftsman from Prato, who skillfully and precisely reupholstered the cushions by hand, using a very special fabric: a silk velvet Ikat in elegant, refined colors. Ikat is the national fabric of Uzbekistan, produced before Charlemagne’s conquest of the region in 329 BC. Uzbekistan’s trade economy has long thrived, thanks to the prosperous trade routes that crossed the legendary "Silk Road." Ikat (which means "cloud" in Uzbek) is a yarn-dyeing technique that produces extraordinary patterns with soft, blurred edges. These benches, thanks to their originality, offer a practical and visually striking solution for enhancing your home's decor. They are suitable for a variety of spaces: the entryway, the bedroom at the foot of the bed, the living room, or the study. With their soft and comfortable upholstery, they invite you to sit down and enjoy relaxing moments of comfort and leisure. Restored to excellent condition, the benches are ready for use.
