About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this exquisite fully stamped original circa 1815 Regency Jennens & Bettridge LTD Birmingham ebonised gold leaf painted occasional bergere chair A very good looking well made and decorative chair. In truth, this is the first one I have seen with the early makers stamp to the base which reads T.H. Jennens London Patentee, this is a very early plaque and beautifully aged Condition wise is period correct, there are some light age and use related patina marks here and there as you would expect, the back has slightly curved out of the right side, it is just over 200 years old Dimensions Height:- 79cm Width:- 44cm Depth:- 51cm Seat height:- 43cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

19th Century French Napoleon III Period Rosewood Salon Chair
Located in Dallas, TX
19th Century French Napoleon III Period Rosewood salon chair is an elegant example of Fine French craftsmanship using exotic imported wood from the Americas. Sometimes called Kingwood, rosewood is known for its natural beauty, color, hardness, and ability to last for eons. This example combines elements of the Louis Philippe form with accents from the Louis XVI style, with a graceful shield-shaped seatback carved with flowing ribbon at the top of the arched crown. The remainder of the seatback follows tailored lines accented with scrolls for a tailored opulence. The seat itself is beautifully contoured and upholstered in mohair, and features gracefully scrolled legs, with the front legs molded for added visual appeal while retaining an austerity of form that is the essence of understated elegance. If you act fast, a twin chair...
