19th Century French Kingwood Parquetry Side Chair with Ormolu Mounts A fine quality French side chair, dating to the mid to late 19th century (circa 1860–1880). The chair is veneered in kingwood, with a parquetry inlaid back splat. Elegantly shaped with carved detail and raised on slender cabriole legs. Well cast gilt bronze ormolu mounts to the knees and sabots, and brass banding to the apron and legs. Retains its original tapestry seat — old and worn with age. A decorative and stylish chair with good colour and patina. Dimensions: Width: 47 cm Depth: 50 cm Height: 96.5 cm Condition: Old tapestry seat worn. Some marks to frame. Structurally sound and attractive overall.

19th Century French Napoleon III Period Rosewood salon chair is an elegant example of Fine French craftsmanship using exotic imported wood from the Americas. Sometimes called Kingwood, rosewood is known for its natural beauty, color, hardness, and ability to last for eons. This example combines elements of the Louis Philippe form with accents from the Louis XVI style, with a graceful shield-shaped seatback carved with flowing ribbon at the top of the arched crown. The remainder of the seatback follows tailored lines accented with scrolls for a tailored opulence.
