19th Century Swedish Antique rustic Stamp chair folk Art " Kubb "chair
About the Item
Swedish "Kubb "chair from the 18th-19th century. The "Kubb"chair is an old type of furniture, and is probably the first chair. It is found on depictions from the Viking Age and the Middle Ages, but was certainly used before that and for a long time to come. In Sweden, the most preserved Kubb chairs are found in Västerbotten. The chair is hollow and shoe hay was often stored in the Kubb chair. It was placed by the fireplace.
This particular piece is made in northern Swedish pine. The chair has original English red paint which is naturally distressed. There is a dry crack in the seat and the back but nothing that affects function or stability. The chair is in structurally good condition with a healthy and solid frame.
