Antique Wooden Windsor Chair Beech Elm Wheel Back Chair 19th Century

About the Item

Antique and characterful Wheel Back Windsor chair made of elm and beech, at the back the initials JG, United Kingdom, late 19th century. Simplistic and pure design, steam-bent wood, a saddle-shaped seat, the bars of the backrest are incorporated in the seat, a single H-rule connection at the bottom. This chair is in good antique condition, traces of age and use consistent with age, the armrests are slightly loose in the connections but still very sturdy, old traces of woodworm (they always have) in the backrest, superficial scratches on the seat, but nothing disturbing, check the photos for more details! Dimensions: LWH 60x48x97cm, seat height 46cm. Weight: 6.3kg.

Large antique narrow gilded mirror from the 19th century, completely in classical baroque style, France circa 1870. The mirror still has its original mirror plate that is decoratively weathered and mocked, which is very desirable, the frame is decorated with acanthus leaves all around, mainly decorated very ornately at the top and bottom, unfortunately the mirror was once painted over with gold paint, which does damage the authenticity somewhat, under the paint is the original gold leaf. The back of the mirror is finished with planks, as was customary at that time. A nice extra is that the planks on the back are covered with antique French newspapers...
