About the Item

Arne Vodder for Bovirke, lounge chair, model 'BO 90', Denmark, 1952 This easy chair is defined by its crescent-shaped armrests that run all the way behind the back, beautifully surrounding the backrest in an organic manner. The constructive carved frame with its tapered legs guarantees stability and contributes to the chair's sculptural appearance. The tilted backrest with buttons and large seat provide great comfort. The seating is upholstered in a dark-toned beige fabric. Arne Vodder (1926-2009) should be named among the most influential Scandinavian Midcentury designers, although he is not as well-known as for instance Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobson. Once a student of famous furniture designer Finn Juhl, who later became his friend and business partner. Vodder started out as an architect who designed low-cost housing, later on, he began designing furniture. Although his designs are anything but low-quality, his aim for functional design that could be used by all remained important. He designed amongst others for Fritz Hansen & Sibast. Please note that the fabric is in fair condition and needs to be replaced. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
