About the Item

These rare Art Nouveau (early 1900) set of Italian design masterfully hand-crafted iron folding garden chairs or stools is so festive and charming thanks to its scalloped design and clever construction! Entirely made of iron, these chairs that turn into stools feature drapery pattern resembling circus tents over a off-white background lacquer and hand crafted seat and back as a faux Vienna straw. I've never come across a garden seating set like this, the iron is forged and painted in a great way and the folding system that easily transforms the chair into a stool is so smart! The details, the colors and even the mastery in hand-crafting the iron as a faux wicker are superb and make one think of using these folding chairs also in an interior design project not just outside in your garden or patio. Lovely if used around the kitchenette table or as a desk chair. They are comfortable both when used as a stool or as a chair thanks to the slightly arched backrest that becomes the seat of the stool when fold. Plus, the color palette is neutral and fits well in both Classic and modern settings. The black and goldish mustard yellow edging painting profiling the whole design make the faux drapery work even more Stand out. Back and seat faithfully reproduces the straw effect both in iron craftsmanship and color and are embellished with green stripes. Resting on iron black lacquer trestle legs, these chairs or stools are stable and sturdy. They show convenient size, easy to handle, and a feature a lovely aged original patina with very slight minor wear on lacquer that do nothing but increase their charm. One of a kind and eye catching seating set ready to use. Dimensions: H. 82, W. 40, D. 36 cm - Seat height 40 cm. - H. 42 cm fold.

Jacob French 18th Century Mahogany and Green Silk Upholster High Back Armchairs
Located in Firenze, IT
This magnificent pair of French late 18th Century- early 19th Century armchairs could be attributable to Jacob-Desmalter, an outstanding chairmaker and cabinetmaker who worked in the Louis XVI style and Directoire styles of the earlier phase of Neoclassicism. These sturdy armchairs are made of solid mahogany and green silk upholster, they feature an extremely comfortable high and slightly arched back and quite large and extremely firm seats. The hand-made carvings and inlays are masterfully executed. The over graceful scrolled arms and the top rail sculpted in shallow relief with acanthus leaves, lotus leaves and rosette, all typical neoclassical patterns beloved during the Directory- Restauration and Empire period and always very chic. The bowed seat and its apron are raised by carved console legs in front and saber legs back. These armchairs with their beautiful curvy shape are very stylish, comfortable and sturdy. The back is covered with silk also behind that's make them a perfect free standing piece of furniture or a centre seating...
