PORTUGUESE ROOTS Chair, was inspired by its original model from 1950, created by Gonçalo Rodrigues dos Santos and designed today by Alexandre Caldas. An exclusive wood chair design in solid wood and natural oil.
The history of this wooden chair with arms goes back to the post-war era, the late forties (1940s).
The chair was original design in metal for outdoors major cafés in Lisbon and subsequently to the rest of the country.
After that , the chair had it`s ups and downs due to the market opening, plastic furniture and other products.
Although the original model as a long time living among Portuguese people, however, for the Rest of the World, this chair was unknown since 2013, the year that AROUNDtheTREE was born.
The design can be inspiring for those who deal with it in a day-to-day use. In this case, the comfort and the organization frees us for the creative process, while is functionality tries to be unobtrusive and restrained, without harming the environment that surrounds it. Without great effort, its user can easily reach everywhere and access the tools of work Locust working desk
The construction of the legs in an “X” mode, confers an extreme stability without further lockups, since the locking is already part of the design.
Also the way the top trapdoors are designed conceals the hinges, making imperceptible the way they open and close.
