These dining chairs by Carlo De Carli beautifully demonstrate the modernist principles that gained prominence during the mid-century modern era; a sophisticated blend of functional design and organic inspiration. The overall silhouette is slim and extremely elegant, gently evoking a sense of fluidity and lightness through the gentle curves. The slightly angled backrest and well-proportioned seat ensure ergonomic support. The sculptural quality of the chairs reflects De Carli's distinctive artistic style and approach to design.
Carlo De Carli was born in 1910 in Milan and became an important architect and designer in the 1940s and 1950s working with Gio Ponti (1891-1979). He became a keen exponent of Italian furniture bringing it to the international market.
