About the Item

An English William and Mary style oak youth chair from the late 18th century, with rush seat and spindle back. This English oak chair features a straight spindle back, connected to two open arms, adorned with delicately splayed extremities. The rectangular rush seat is raised on four legs, straight in the back and turned in the front. The legs are connected to one another through side stretchers, the front one being turned. The general linearity of the chair is ingeniously balanced by the delicate curves of the turned motifs. With its rustic feel and lovely patina, this English William and Mary style youth chair, circa 1780, will bring a touch of authenticity in any home, particularly placed next to a bed and adorned with stacked books.
