About the Item

The chair features a simple and lightweight structure. Its clean lines, with smooth, rounded edges, complement the meticulous handcrafted weaving. Made by a family of artisans from Bacalar, the weaving uses the "ojo de perdiz" technique with cotton or nylon thread. The design of this chair is inspired by the wicker rocking chairs and armchairs traditionally made in Yucatán. Today, this tradition is fading, along with the art of hand-weaving chairs. Therefore, the intention behind the Cocom Collection is to preserve and revive this legacy. The Cocom Collection merges tradition and modernity, elevating craftsmanship with exceptional attention to detail. It employs various endemic tropical wood from southern Mexico, giving each piece a vibrant tropical personality. The chairs, armchairs, and rockers are available in a variety of weaving colors. _ design: Ania Wolowska finish: wax weaving: cotton or nylon available in: Jabim (Jamaican Dogwood) _ Our pieces have a finish based on natural waxes and oils that protect the surface, accentuate the grain and texture and preserve the warm feeling of the wood. All the wood that we work with to create our pieces comes from local "ejidos" (communal land) with responsible forestry management programs and certificates. _ Wood is a natural and organic element. It will vary in color and grain according to each wood plank’s unique characteristics and applied finish. The image shows only one hue of many, making each chair a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture.
