About the Item
Iconic Bauhaus cantilevered armchairs of chrome tubular steel with black leather sling seat and back and black leather armrests in near pristine condition. Designed by Mart Stam in 1927, chairs of this style were the first cantilevered chairs in furniture history. Starting in 1925, Stam experimented with gas pipes connected with flanges and developed the principle of cantilevered chairs that no longer rested on four legs, a construction principle that became a turning point in the history of modern furniture design.
