This is a near pair of antique carved temple chairs. A Burmese, mahogany and woven leather low chair, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850. Utterly fascinating carved chairs, with distinctive low form and appealing detail Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Select stocks present fine grain interest and deep chestnut hues Quality antique leather and rattan seats in taut woven order and complete Pairs of turned finials united with woven leather ropework above the shaped back rest Profusely carved, the bak rests present scenes of foliate motif Stout block shoulders meet the seat cushion in carved cupped mounts Raised upon a quartet of squat circular feet, with a seat height of 16cm and 15cm respectively This is a charming pair of antique carved temple chairs, with a wonderful tribal aesthetic.
