Beautiful vintage Danish Scandinavian chair by Niels Otto Moller model 71, in teak. Beautiful curve of the backrest. Black seat.

The work of Danish designer Niels Otto Møller is renowned for its excellence in quality and execution. His involvement in the production stems from his apprenticeship in cabinetmaking, which he completed in 1939, before continuing his studies at the Århus School of Design.
In 1944, Niels Otto Møller founded his own furniture production company, JL Møllers Møbelfabrik, in a small workshop in the center of his hometown. While supervising the production of traditional furniture in his factory, Niels Otto Møller continued the design. The No. 1 Chair (1946) was his first result. For the rest of his life, Niels Otto Møller’s designs were produced by his own company. His chairs, such as the sculptural No. 55 and No. 71 (both 1951), represent, through their choice of colours, materials and soft curves, the post-war Scandinavian vision of practical, well-made design.

Introducing a rare and limited set of eight Model 71 dining chairs designed by the incomparable Niels Møller for J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, crafted in the 1960s in Denmark. These stunning chairs are constructed from a mix of solid and veneered Burmese teak and feature a sculptural seat back that adds a touch of elegance and comfort to the design, while the tapered legs add a sense of lightness and airiness. The seats have been re-strapped and reupholstered in a rich, thick-cut genuine Italian leather hide in a fabulous hazelnut brown tone perfectly off-setting the natural wood tones of the solid teak frames.
Niels Otto Moller was a Danish furniture designer, known for his modern and functional designs. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and went on to work for various furniture manufacturers, including J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, where he designed the Model 71 Dining Chairs.
J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik was a Danish furniture manufacturer, founded in 1944 by Jorgen Langkilde Moller. The company was known for producing high-quality furniture in the Danish Modern style, using materials such as teak and oak. The company was in operation until the late 1970s.
