About the Item
Pair of iron chairs by the artist Ugo Trevisan (1904-?), with perforated iron decoration and carved face at the top of the seat, circa 1960, 120 x 60 x 60 cm.
The curved shape of the chair, which ends in a sculptural man's head, gives this pair of chairs their character. Ugo Trevisan's work is recognisable by the slender legs. The perforated metal detail on the top of the backrest gives this artist's chair a handcrafted, research-based character. Ugo Trevisan ran a workshop in Turin where he created truly unique pieces that valued metal work as an art, specialized in making furniture and embossed and engraved brass and copper objects. His creations are always very elaborate and of extraordinary finesse. The artist's furniture of Ugo Trevisan is still too little known, yet it is of a rare beauty.
