About the Item

A gorgeous and timeless pair of mid 20th Century garden or patio chairs designed and cast by the English firm Molla. These chairs are cast in an aluminum and magnesium mixture. The Molla company was among the first (and best if you ask me) to create this type of outdoor furniture making it quite resistant to rust and corrosion. The pieces were cast in England and then flat shipped to the New York area where they were assembled and sold. Every home in the Hamptons had Molla furniture (or just about every home). The long and beautifully fluted legs, as well as the high back and round seat frame, are also decorated with banded designs. The tops of the legs where they meet the round frame have a leafy top making them perfect for your garden or patio. The pair is presented in the most delicate of mint green with a somewhat deeper mint green original upholstery. And for a little history on the English company Molla, I found this on the Southern Company website, "Molla’s vintage outdoor furniture designs are timeless and elegant. They were the first company to use aluminum and magnesium castings for outdoor furniture. The combination resulted in beautifully crafted patio furniture that was more resistant to rust and corrosion than other cast iron furniture made during the same time period. The Molla Company was founded in England during the late 1800’s and expanded to New York. The neoclassic style became a favorite for customers in the Hamptons area on Long Island and the shore areas of Connecticut and New Jersey."
