Pair of Original 1930s Tubular Cantilever Bauhaus Chairs by Vichr, Czech

About the Item

We sourced this pair in the Czech Republic from a retired dentist who took over the waiting room furniture from his father. The chairs were probably produced by Rudolf Vichr or Robert Slezak who where in the leading Czech designers in producing tubular Bauhaus furniture in the 1930s. This set of steel tubular cantilevers is in its original condition and definitely shows nearly 100 years of use but is still very stable and most comfortable to sit in. While very close to the chairs by Mart Stam (B43F), the seating board on these chairs is inlayed to the frame and the backrest is more curved and slightly wider. The chromed frame is probably the same as for Mart Stam chairs, as his products where also produced in what was then Czechoslovakia. Dimensions: Height: 83 cm (32.7 in) Seat Height: 46 cm (18.1 in) Arm Rest Height: 61 cm (24 in) Width: 55 cm (21.7 in) Depth: 50 cm (19.7 in) Packed with extra care for safe shipping!
