Series of 4 Luigi Gorgoni Chairs for Roche Bobois - 1970s

About the Item

Striking set of four vintage chairs with a bold, sculptural design, attributed to iconic Milanese designer Luigi Gorgoni for Roche Bobois in the 1970s. Crafted with a solid elm wood frame and full-grain terracotta leather seats and backs, these chairs exude strong presence and an architectural silhouette. The design is typical of Gorgoni’s signature style: clean lines, noble materials, and assertive proportions. These rare pieces integrate beautifully into mid-century, brutalist, or contemporary interiors. Perfect for a dining room, creative workspace, or high-end interior design project. The leather is stretched, creating an elegant, tensioned minimalism, while the wood displays a warm, natural patina. Condition: Very good vintage condition – minor wear consistent with age About the designer: Luigi Gorgoni was a Milan-based designer active primarily in the 1970s and 1980s. Known for his clean, sculptural forms and refined material use — wood, marble, lacquer — his most notable collaborations were with French luxury furniture brand Roche Bobois, for whom he designed a range of iconic pieces including dining tables, desks, and sideboards still sought after today. Key characteristics of Gorgoni’s work: Architectural, streamlined lines Use of geometric volumes Bold materials: often exotic woods with glossy finishes or metal accents A balance between Italian modernism and French luxury
