Set of four early 19th Century Biedermeier Chairs

About the Item

Four antique Biedermeier chairs Germany Beech tree early 19th century Dimensions: H x W x D: 88 x 46 x 49 cm, seat height: 49 cm Description: Chairs standing on slightly flared legs in a frame construction with a backrest that curves backwards. The side sections, which end in volutes at the top, are connected with a round bar. Underneath, we see ebonised pointed arches as the central design element in the back. The use of solid beech indicates that it was made in eastern Germany, presumably in Thuringia, Saxony or Brandenburg. The wood was probably originally stained in a walnut colour. Dark residues can still be seen in the corner nailing of the frames and in deeper indentations. The insides of the frames are labelled "KANDT". The chairs are newly upholstered and covered with a Q2 Baronesse with floral patterns by Höpke Textiles. Condition: Refurbished, stable and suitable for everyday use.
