About the Item

Rare and sculptural T-chair for a dressing table. This unusual T-chair with Mahogany frame and four round tapering legs has a circular seat and a T-back upholstered with black leather. The back is internally supported by a metal fitting. While intended to be used as a vanity chair, this small piece has a great suclptural presence and work well as a stool or small extra chair that easily fit into a room big or small. It was probably made by cabinetmaker Jacob Kjær circa 1930-40. Sigvard Bernadotte was a celebrated industrial designer and world famous for his silverware. He designed also some few pieces of furniture. This chair falls very close to a model by him from circa 1940, made and retailed briefly by Illums Bolighus (see last photo).
