About the Item

A lovely chaise lounge crafted in the late 19th century. The design comes out of the Aesthetic Movement which began in the 1860s in England. Ebonized wood with gilt embellishment is a common feature of Aesthetic furniture and this can be seen in the chaise's intricately designed legs, which also use burl wood as a decorative element. The chaise is button-tufted and reupholstered in a dusky-rose faux suede. Dimensions: 80 in. length 28 in. depth 26 in. overall height 21 in. seat height Condition notes: Overall in good condition. Scuffs and wear to the wood that are consistent with the chaise's age and use. Wobbliness to one leg. Recent reupholstery work.
