About the Item
This handwoven French inspired club chair, is made in our Chicago workshop by some very talented artisans who still care about creating as fine a product as possible. We took the original circa 1910-1920 French leather club chair and we duplicated each detail in order to remain faithful to the original design. I have to confess that we did make the seat a tad wider, for French people a 100-years ago, were quite a bit slimmer than your average American today. Inside the French inspired club chair, you will see old-fashion 8-way hand-tied coil springs and genuine horsehair and cotton used for padding. The leather straps are vegetable tanned. And hand colored with a combination of waxes, proteins and mineral dyes to fully penetrate the leather. A second application of a special protective clear-coat is hand rubbed to seal and protect the antique finish. Once completely dried, the club chair is polished by hand to a beautiful patina. Measure: Seat height 16 inches.
