Mid-Century Modern Club Chair in Sapphire & Platinum Fabric with Ebonized Walnut

About the Item

This stunning and graphic club chair was realized in the United States, circa 1950. It features an open U-form back, gently domed seat and straight conical legs in ebonized walnut. It has been newly reupholstered in woven sapphire and platinum fabric consisting of concentric squares bisected by lines in black (the background) hue. The pattern of the fabric recalls the concentric square works by Frank Stella, and offer a dynamic geometric counterpoint to the curvilinear form of the piece. This chair offers the clean and sophisticated lines that discerning collectors of Mid-Century Modern design cherish. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior. Mint restored condition. American, circa 1950. Dimensions: 23" D x 26.5" W x 27.75" H Seat height 17".

This stunning and graphic pair Mid Century Modern arm chairs were realized in the United States circa 1960. They feature cylindrical legs that taper to a point at their bases. The front legs are straight, while the hind legs are slightly arched- providing the chairs with a subtle dynamism. The sides of the chairs are each composed of a single amorphic form- with a negative space that creates rests for the sitters arms and gives these pieces a wonderfully sculptural Silhouette. The chairs have been newly reupholstered in a luxurious Holly Hunt Great plains dove gray fabric called luxe trail elephant with Fine horizontal striations. These chairs are a study in the simple beauty of first rate Mid Century design, explaining why American modernism appears as timeless and compelling today as it did more than 60 years ago when these chairs were first created.
