Minimalist Contemporary Plywood Puzzle Chair

About the Item

Modernist plywood puzzle chair that disassembles and references the Constructivist Movement. Too many designers have created work in similar conceptual manner, starting with Beat Frank designs furniture, now Edition Beat Frank, and formerly known as Beat Frank / Atelier Vorsprung, Ken Landauer, Jos Laugs for Furnitura, the Giotto Chair by Ferdinando Meccani (1987), Gregg Fleishman’s "Lumbarest" or Puzzle chair (1970's), and the CH410 “Peter's Chair” by Hans J. Wegner. Many additionally reference the Art Deco period as an influence, such as the "Deconstruction” chair by Ilonka Karasz. David Kawecki may be the most currently well-known designer of a “puzzle chair”, but many architects preceded that piece, including ones by Gerrit Rietveld and Frank Lloyd Wright. Surprisingly cozy and cocoon-like, this sculptural piece is wonderful mixed with other Modern pieces, but also works in a more traditional space, as a foil and contrast to more ornate furniture and architecture. The free, courtesy-shipped package will include the chair disassembled and flat-packed. We will include photos for easy re-assembly.
