Pair of Art Deco Bridge Armchairs circa 1940-1950

About the Item

Bridge armchair from the 1940s and 50s. The seat and the backrest are covered with a pretty white terry fabric, 2 armrests with widely rounded shapes, the whole gives them a crazy charm. The chair in very good condition. Art Deco Unlike the lines of Art Nouveau, those of Art Deco no longer have any freedom. The characteristic lines of the 1925 style return to a classic, rigorous, symmetrical and straight order. In addition, the lines are arranged in a geometric way. The straight lines of Art Deco are pure and serve, on their own, to establish a piece of furniture or an object of decorative arts. Some curves may exist in the frame of a piece of furniture. However, they are still very wide and very light. Any Art Deco representation is, unmistakably geometric. Even the few floral motifs are simplified and are illustrated with simple lines. This is a real break from the previous style.
