Superb Original Vintage Chelsea Bordeaux Handmade Brown Leather Armchair
About the Item
A superb, original handmade Chelsea Bordeaux vintage brown leather armchair in excellent condition.
This is a fine example of quality British craftsmanship, this example has a great look in original untouched condition, the leather patina is superb, you often see these items over restored but this piece has none of that. Originally made in Chelsea in the late 1970s these were very popular with British officers mess and made to last with high quality materials and the very best hide.
The brown leather has a lovely warm chestnut tome with studded detailing to arms and front.
Seat height = 47cm / 18.5?
The piece is in excellent order, with original hessian base and castors. A rare piece in such original condition.
These are heavy chairs with traditional coil sprung construction, each spring is hand tied eight ways, hessian padded and strapped, the cushions both back and base are deep heavy feather filled, the back cushion is sewn into place, with the base cushion removable. The upholstery is hand studded using oversized antiqued brass studs, giving the piece its unique form, A comfortable chair with thick hide hardwearing leather.

What a door!
Manufactured by Mather & Platt Ltd of Manchester, England.
The doors stands at over 7ft high and nearly 5ft wide, the steel patchwork is all intact and the door is finished in its original red paint with a wonderful aged patina. The Times London Royal Edition covers the period of 1 September to 31 October 1936, each day has around 10-11 pages of content, including some fabulous advertisements from the period, a pure joy to flick through and read.
These bound copies were made for Royal Palaces and Libraries, this surviving copy from 1936 is in good condition for its age with most of the pages intact, there is some age related damage/rips to a few pages but all in all in good condition.
A wonderful decorative piece of British history.
