Exceptional late 19th-century French Directoire-style daybed or chaise lounge, sourced from Provence, France. Beautifully handcrafted from solid maple wood, it features a gorgeous greenish-gray hand-painted finish with a naturally aged patina, accented by dark blue hand-painted details. This piece has been structurally reinforced for stability, ensuring durability for daily use. Its exquisite hand-carved scroll arms, adorned with Neoclassical-style triangle motifs and floral detailing, exude sophistication and refinement. The daybed retains its original luxurious striped blue velvet upholstery and includes a loose cushion, three matching back pillows, and two bolster pillows, offering both comfort and elegance. A standout feature is its collapsible arm, which effortlessly transforms it from a traditional bench into a lounge-style daybed. Raised on four hand-carved tapered legs, this exceptional piece showcases outstanding craftsmanship and excellent joinery, embodying the refined yet functional aesthetics of the Directoire period.
