Mid-Century Inspired Daybed or Couch in Cherry by Boyd & Allister

About the Item

This mid-century inspired daybed / couch in cherry was originally designed as a guest bed for a little person but it has since been built for a variety of homes and projects. It is inspired by an unattributed french mid-century daybed that I came across in my travels and fell in love with. We use the frame and panel construction of the back and sides as an opportunity to showcase some exceptional wood. In the daybed pictured above we used a lovely curly cherry. The varying depths of the components lend a complexity to apparent simplicity of the design. The legs step down to the lower rails and then the panel steps down from its frame all capped by a proud top rail mitered together in the back corners. The figured maple square pegs highlight the mounting of the top rail to the legs below. The cushion is custom made and measures 32” deep by 74” long. It is made of a pre- washed black cotton canvas and a foam core. We can also make the cushion with tufted organic cotton batting or wool wrapped latex for an additional cost. Finish is a natural oil and wax.
