About the Item
Beautiful daybeds designed by the Dutch designer Dick Cordemeijer for Auping.
The frames are grey and the top bar's are made from solid teak.
In very good condition seen there age.
A.R. (Dick) Cordemeijer
Andre Robert (Dick) Cordemeijer, born in Amsterdam in 1924, studied mechanical engineering. He started his career as a draftsman-constructor and joined Auping in 1952.
Dick Cordemeijer designed the sofa bed Cleopatra in 1953 for Auping. Cordemeijer was commissioned by Auping to design "something beautiful". In the 1950s, the interior of the bedroom changed and the elegant design of the Cleopatra fits in perfectly. With the arrival of the Cleopatra you could speak about real Industrial Design, the first bed that is produced in series by Auping.
