A Danish Modern cane and cherry wood dining chair designed by Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sorensen for Botium in the 1980s. This exceptionally crafted dining chair is constructed of a cherry wood frame, a patinated tan leather seat, and a sand-toned woven cane backrest featuring a curved silhouette. The monochromatic warm tones and various natural materials are characteristic of classic Scandinavian design. Denmark, 1980s.
Collaborating from 1966 to the mid 1990’s, Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sørensen evolved as renowned Danish furniture designers during the 20th Century. They have won many prestigious awards including the Carpenter Guilds furniture competition's first prize and Jubilee prize from the National Bank of Denmark. Their works are also on exhibition at the Danish Design Museum ion Copenhagen, The Design Museum in Oslo, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
